The Artisanal Collection is a new range of fine wines with winemaker Gordon Russell’s artistry and vision on full display, yielding soulful wines that express Esk Valley’s character and Hawkes Bay home.

In the Collection, classic Hawkes Bay wine styles are given the Esk Valley and Gordon Russell treatment. A barrel-fermented Chardonnay, unique Malbec dominant blended red wine and a cluster fermented Syrah form the backbone of the collection. Complemented with select bottlings of Chenin Blanc and Gamay Noir, the Artisanal Collection is a truly exciting expression of Esk Valley’s vision and craft.

Great Dirt Collection

Shop Great Dirt Wines

Welcome to our ‘Great Dirt’ collection of expressive and age-worthy fine wines. Each tells a story of its unique soil and history, reflecting our intimate relationship with the Hawkes Bay landscape fostered over many decades of winegrowing. The select vineyard blocks from which these wines are sourced have long produced the finest of our wines. Each is made in a hands-off manner, using only the best parcels of hand-picked fruit to capture the essence and unique character of each site.

Heipipi The Terraces

Shop Heipipi Wines

Our most iconic and revered collection of wines, recognised as being amongst the best of their kind in New Zealand.

Long before Robert Bird engineered the terraces that ribbon this steep, north facing vineyard in the north of Hawkes Bay at Bay View, early maori had established the settlement of Heipipi Pa atop the slope. Historical documents tell of its occupation for over 500 years and importance to the region. With its limestone soils, north facing aspect and frost free nature, this is a unique and stunning vineyard site, bearing the name of its earliest settlement.
